Will the Zeo Sleep Monitor help you sleep?
Only half of all Americans get the recommended amount of sleep…the rest of us stumble through the day, feeling cranky and not quite up for the day. Relationships suffer as does our productivity and our health. What are we to do about it? Consumers now have available to them a device called the Zeo Sleep Monitor which is proving to be very helpful.

Sleep Science has labeled sleep as three different cycles. There’s REM (rapid eye-movement) sleep, which restores and refreshes our brains. Secondly there is deep sleep, which restores and refreshes our muscles and finally, there is light sleep.
Up to now to find out why you feel so terrible in the morning, you could go to a sleep lab which cost thousands of dollars as technicians monitor your sleep and you are hooked up to wires and sensors. Another solution is pay $200 and get yourself a Zeo Sleep Monitor.
The Zeo Sleep Monitor comes with an Alarm Clock, a Memory card, and an elastic headband. You wear the headband to bed at night, as it measures your brainwaves and transmits them wirelessly to the clock/monitor on your nightstand.
As you awake in the morning, you put the headband back onto its charging shelf, which is located on the Zeo Sleep Monitor Alarm Clock and a graph of the nightly sleep data is presented. The Zeo Sleep System stores your sleep data on the memory card. Later, you can upload your data to the Zeo website, which allows you compare your sleep data in a million ways.
You can measure the quality of the types of your sleep, (i.e. deep sleep, REM). Accordingly over weeks or months you can observe patterns and causes and effects. You will notice how your lifestyle affects how long you sleep, and so on.
The answer is equally easy to accept, we know the concepts, but we just don’t follow them. For the most part these are lifestyle changes that are needed. Just allowing the Zeo Sleep System to track your sleep cycles doesn’t in and by itself do anything to make you sleep better… nor does plotting your statistics on the web, either.
But the Zeo Sleep Monitor system does work effectively for most people, because after spending that much money and effort, you take the whole thing much more seriously.
Specifically, because the acquired data isn’t from a text book but rather it is data about your real time personal sleeping patterns…thus increasing the probability of implementing the needed changes to your lifestyle.
By the way, when you retire for the evening, there are times in which one’s mind is racing about any number of things as you, and it is sometimes helpful to have a white noise tool to set the stage for the night’s sleep. A recommended device is the Marpac 980.
